Hi Everyone,

We left New Zealand on the 20th June. Our flight from Australia took 3 hours, which flew by. We watched Starsky and Hutch and witnessed an amazing / extended sunset as we were traveling towards the sun.
We arrived in Sydney and stayed for 4 days. During our 4 days we done the following:

• We walked over Sydney Bridge
• Walked to the Opera House
• Walked around the Botanic Gardens – we saw some interesting wildlife inc: flying foxes (bats)
• We walked to Darling Harbor
• We went to the National Gallery
• Planned our bus itinerary around Australia

On 24th June we got a bus to Canberra, the capital of Australia. We spent the day in Canberra and walked to Parliament House and viewed a live debate in the commons. We got the night bus from Canberra to Melbourne at 23.55. We slept the 8-hour journey to Melbourne to save on accommodation.

We arrived in Melbourne 08.00 25th June and booked our hostel for 3 nights and the night bus on the 28th June to Adelaide.

During our stay in Melbourne we have done the following: -

• We went to Queen Victoria Market, which was huge!
• We walked to Treasury Gardens and Fitzroy Gardens.
• We went to Circus OZ – www.ozcircus.com.au - the show was really good, lasted 2 hours and it didn’t include any animals.
• We walked around Albert Park the Formula One Track. The rest of the year it is used as a normal road. – www.grandprix.com.au
• We went to Sunday Craft Market by the Yarra River.
• We went to St.Kilda Beach 30 minutes south of Melbourne.
• We went to Ramsay Street while they were filming a big scene for Neighbours, we even saw Harold Bishop he gave us a wave from the end of the street. We drove past Erinsbourgh High School and learnt there is no such place as a suburb called Erinsbourgh in Melbourne. We also drove past the production studios for Neighbours.

On the evening of 28th June we got the 9.5 hour bus from Melbourne to Adelaide to save on accommodation again.

Our stay in Adelaide began with a visit to Andrew’s Dads cousin – Linda Bexx and her family.
They put us up for the night and really took care of us. It made a change from staying in hostels over the last 2 months.

We are staying in Adelaide City. In Adelaide we have done the following: -

• We arranged our accommodation and buses to travel north through the outback to the center of Australia where we will do a 3-day tour of Alice Springs, Ayers Rock and Kings Canyon.
• We visited another Art Gallery and Museum, which is becoming rather boring as they display the same old thing.
• We walked around the Botanic Gardens, again same old thing but there is not much else to do in the city.

So we are now looking forward to traveling through the outback and we leave Adelaide tomorrow night 2nd July!

We will email about our trip to the center in a week or so.

Lots of Love
Andrew and Kath
xx
