Hi Everyone.

Kiwi Experience continued....

Day 17 - 9th June 2004, Queenstown day 2: -

Nothing exciting today. We walked in to town and saw a boy walking a baby goat and basically lazed about! The weather today was cold and cloudy.

Day 18 - 10th June 2004, Queenstown day 3: -

The weather today is slightly better than yesterday. We decided to walk up a 2000ft mountain next to a gondola. From the top the views of the snow topped mountains and town were amazing. We climbed 200ft higher to watch the Para-gliders launch off the mountain and glide down to the town.

Day 19 - 11th June 2004, Queenstown day 4: -

Today is our coldest day spent in NZ, although the skies are blue its freezing!! We took a short walk next to the Remarkable’s (Queenstown’s mountains) and lazed around the hostel to keep warm!

Day 20 - 12th June 2004

Today is our last day on the Kiwi bus and the end of our kiwi experience! We left Queenstown for a journey, which took us 486kms to Christchurch! To break up the journey we stopped by a couple of lakes and the weather began to improve the nearer we got to Christchurch!

That’s the end of our Kiwi Experience. We hope you have enjoyed reading our emails. Our future emails won't be so intense and we will just try and highlight the areas of our travels!

Day 21 - June 13th 2004

Our free day in Christchurch. We have 1 week left in NZ and have decided to organize our own transport to Kaikoura. The plan is to swim with the dusky dolphins!

On the 15th June we boarded a boat and cruised 15mins out to sea fully suited in wetsuits and snorkels. We swam with a pod of over 100 wild dusky dolphins! The water was very cold but the dolphins were worth every minute of the 30min swim! The dolphins got so close we could of touched them but were advised not to. As we have said the dolphins are wild and they chose to swim with you. After the swim we viewed hundreds of dusky dolphins from the boat and spent another 30mins watching the dolphins show off all around us! The swim with the dolphins was an amazing experience we will never forget!

The following day we cycled to the local New Zealand Fur Seal colony in Kaikoura Andrew took some close up photos of the seals lazing on the sea rocks and one seal was even lying on the grass next to a car park!

We returned to Christchurch on the 17th June and relaxed for the next 3 days. We went to the cinema a couple of times and watched 'The Day After Tomorrow' & 'Shrek 2'

On the 20th June, our last day in Christchurch we got a shuttle to the airport. Before our flight we decided to visit the international Antarctic center next door to the airport. We spent about 2hrs in the center and even experienced a Antarctic storm simulator which got as cold as -5deg C with indoor snow, although it wasn't a true simulation as the Antarctic gets as cold as -89degC! Afterwards it was soon time to get to the airport to
catch our flight to Sydney Australia. We are very sad to be leaving NZ but ready for our next challenge in OZ!!

Thanks for reading our emails about New Zealand!!

Lots love
Andrew & Kathryn
xx
