Subject: Email 10, Australia Update 5, Last Update
Hi Everyone,
This is our last email on our Australia update! Below is where we have been in the last couple of weeks and some of the things we have been up to: -
Noosa:-
We completed yet more walks, this time through Noosa Heads National Park. As we walked along the headland we spotted more humpback whales. On our return walk through the rainforest we also spotted a goanna.
Brisbane:-
Just another big city, infact Australia's 3rd biggest! We spent a couple of days exploring the city. We relaxed one afternoon by city beach, a man made lagoon that looks like a beach but bang in the front of the city.
Surfers Paradise:-
This is a really popular tourist town containing many sky rises along the stretch of beach. If you imagine Miami but moved down under, you can imagine what its like.
We went to Wet’n’Wild theme park for an exciting day on all the various water slides.

We went to an evening market by the beach. One stall stood out more than the others as a man (Dennis - Sandman) was making a sand sculpture of a dragon on the beach. The sandman's stall contained photos of his other designs and they were awesome.

Byron Bay:-
This is a real hippy town!
We walked to the lighthouse on Cape Byron to watch the sunrise at Australia's most easterly point. We admired the views around the lighthouse and clearly noticed 4 – 5 different pods of bottle nosed dolphins swimming in the ocean below.
Coffs Harbour:-
We completed more walks around this small, pleasant and peaceful town.
Andrew went to the Solitary Islands, 12 miles from Coffs Harbor by boat. Here Andrew completed 2 more scuba dives and even swam close by 2 grey nurse sharks.
Sydney:-
After covering over 10,000km around Australia we are back where we started. It’s oddly colder now than when we arrived 11 weeks ago. Last night Sydney Airport was closed due to thunder, lightening and large hailstones. Yesterday we went on a day trip. We spent the morning looking around the 2000 Olympic Stadium before heading off to the Blue Mountains for the rest of the day. We completed many walks most of which were in the rain, we even rode on the world's steepest railway! Before our return to Sydney we visited some rocks called the 3 sisters, which were less impressive than we imagined.
Today were off to Bondi Beach for 2 nights and then we leave Australia early morning of the 8th September to start our travels through South East Asia. We will update you on our new adventure as soon as we can!
Love Andrew and Kath
xx
P.S - See Andrews dive photos on the next email!
